The intervention combined new construction with the reorganization of the surrounding area, integrating additional structures within an existing operational military compound.
Set in a complex Alpine environment, the project faced significant constraints, including limited accessibility, demanding logistics, and restricted construction windows due to weather conditions. To address these challenges, RIMOND implemented a fast-track construction strategy, leveraging extensive off-site fabrication and direct execution. The structural system was based on XLAM cross-laminated timber panels, enabling rapid assembly while ensuring high structural performance and reduced environmental impact. Each residential unit was equipped with a fully prefabricated bathroom pod, produced off-site and installed on-site with minimal adjustments. This approach significantly reduced construction time and minimized coordination risks between trades.
