Overview

The Monaco Pavilion consists of four distinct architectural volumes and three open-air pergolas, harmoniously integrating architecture and landscape. This configuration reflects the Principality’s deep commitment to environmental awareness and immersive storytelling. The entire layout is designed to guide visitors on a journey that unites nature and culture, embodying the pavilion’s central message: “Take Care of Wonder.”

Three exhibition buildings lead visitors through a multisensory experience: a soaring semicircular space with vertical projections that narrate Monaco’s identity; a second area dedicated to the Principality’s past, present, and sustainable future vision; and finally, a dark, circular volume inspired by the marine world, where illuminated elements highlight the Prince Albert II Foundation’s ocean conservation efforts. Outside, a garden inspired by Monaco’s landscapes, framed by pergolas, offers a contemplative path revealing the Principality’s global environmental commitment.

RIMOND’s Role in Realizing an Immersive Vision

As General Contractor, RIMOND played a crucial role in transforming the Monaco Pavilion from a conceptual vision into a built and engaging reality. More than a mere builder, RIMOND served as the driving force behind the technical execution and coordination of this highly symbolic and detailed project.

The pavilion’s construction posed complex challenges: from the delicate integration of gardens to the high level of architectural detailing, all while fully complying with Japanese building codes regarding seismic safety, fire regulations, and Expo standards. RIMOND managed the entire construction lifecycle from initial design review and coordination to on-site mobilization, technical execution, and final delivery.

A Coordinated and Technically Refined Execution

Located within a compact urban environment featuring complex landscaping elements, the project demanded a highly sophisticated construction strategy. RIMOND oversaw every phase of execution, including structural works, mechanical and electrical systems, high-performance finishes, and integration of the architectural envelope. The team also coordinated a complex network of local and international stakeholders, ensuring smooth communication and full compliance with regulatory requirements.

Attention to detail and advanced technical expertise enabled RIMOND to translate a complex project into a coherent and harmonious architectural experience, where technology and storytelling seamlessly merge. And harmonious architectural experience, where technology and storytelling seamlessly merge.
